2009 Kent Summer Art Exhibit
The City of Kent seeks 2-dimensional artworks including prints, photographs, paintings and works on paper for the Kent Summer Art Exhibit. All accepted artwork is then eligible for City Art Purchase Awards and Kent Art Commission Exhibit Awards. More information and application guidelines. Postmark deadline Monday, March 9, 2009.
Digital Photography Workshop
The Kent Summer Art Exhibit application requires that artwork samples be submitted digitally. To help artists better understand this technical requirement, the Kent Arts Commission is offering a digital photography workshop at Kent City Hall on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The workshop is being taught by Spike Mafford, a photographer who specializes in documenting artwork. He has taught similar workshops for organizations such as Artist Trust. This is a free workshop, but you must register to attend by Friday, January 9, 2009. Contact Cheryl dos Remedios at cdosremedios@ci.kent.wa.us .
Digital Photography Session
For artists not inclined to photograph artwork themselves, the Kent Arts Commission is sponsoring a reduced rate photography session with Spike Mafford on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Each artist may bring a maximum of 8 artworks to be digitally photographed, at a charge of $15 per artwork or $100 for 8 artworks. You will receive a CD with high quality digital images of your artwork. Priority will be given to Kent residents and senior citizens. Space is limited. Registration is required by January 27, 2009.
